Principal Data and BI Architect / Tech-lead

Nationale Nederlanden is seeking a highly skilled and motivated principal Data & Business intelligence Architect/team lead with a proven track record in managing complex data architectures and delivering exceptional business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various BI tools and extensive experience in data warehouse modelling within the MS BI stack & Power Platform. This role requires strong leadership capabilities to drive excellence within the IT team and manage a Centre of Excellence for Business Intelligence.

What you’re going to do

• Lead a center of excellence of BI experts which includes activities such as marketing, people management , stakeholder management, conflict management, project delivery and customer support
• Develop and implement data / BI strategies, architecture, and solutions in collaboration with Dev Ops and other team members
• Utilize advanced skills in data modelling, data warehouse management and MS Azure technologies to deliver robust business intelligence solutions
• Lead and oversee the delivery management process, ensuring projects are initiated and accurate estimated and completed within set timelines and meet quality standards
• Provide technical leadership and guidance during the development of complex architectures and solutions, ensuring best practices and optimal performance
• Establish and lead a Center of Excellence for Business Intelligence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team
• Demonstrate expertise in domain architecture and effectively communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders and senior management
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities to promote and sell services within the organization, contributing to the overall business growth
• Oversee the recruitment process, from CV selection to the hiring of new employees, ensuring the selection of top talent for the IT excellence team
• Exhibit excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders, team members, and senior management

Who you are

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in successfully running and delivering complex projects within corporate environments
• Proven experience in leading and managing data architecture and business intelligence projects
• In-depth knowledge of various BI tools and technologies, including but not limited to Power BI, Cognos, and Business Objects
• Expertise in data warehouse modelling, data vaults, and Data Lake architecture
• Proficiency in cloud-based solutions such as Microsoft Azure (Data Bricks, Data Lake), Amazon AWS, and Amazon Redshift
• Advanced skills in Microsoft SQL Server, SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services), and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services
• Familiarity with ERP models, databases and a strong understanding of Finance domain knowledge
• Both Dutch and English language proficiency

Who you will work with

You will be working directly with the product manager of group services. You will lead a team (Center of excellence) of 5-10 BI experts / analysts and work very closely with stakeholders and customers of the center of excellence.
