Solution Architect Strategy & Innovation

Are you ready to become responsible for the architecture function of Strategy & Innovation? We're looking for an architect to be architecturally responsible for all our solutions. This covers new propositions and products such as our tokenised bonds, our gig worker payments platform Payday, and our identity and payment solution ID & pay. It also includes all our work on Generative AI, such as the call support solution we've launched in our contact centers.
Your job
As the primary architect for Strategy & Innovation, you'll lead the architecture of our innovation and AI initiatives.
The activities consist of:
- Creating and aligning solution intents for our new propositions. These might be hosted on our innovation cloud (Guide) or the bank systems (FSCP)
- Creating and introducing common architectural patterns across our IT development activities, leading to faster and safer development
- Partnering with lead engineers to improve and optimise their solutions
- Guiding all teams within S&I in obtaining the (technical) approvals they need. e.g. ARB, CAB, SEA.
- Working closely with architects and other experts (e.g. CISO) around the bank to get our solutions approved and later integrate our solutions into the bank IT landscape (e.g. when transferring our solutions to a business line)
- Maintaining the current state architecture
- Supporting the hiring and development of talented engineers
- Acting as a sparring partner to the Innovation Tech MT members on technical topics
Working environment
Strategy & Innovation (S&I) plays a central role in defining and executing ABN AMRO’s strategy and related innovation agenda. The department consists of functional units in Strategy, Corporate Development, and three innovation-related units, Innovation Process & Design, Innovation Technology, and Innovation Lab.
The Innovation Technology department is responsible for (1) the development of solutions with the innovation initiatives in the Innovation Lab, (2) driving the adoption of new technologies across the bank (mainly Generative AI), and (3) acting as a centre of expertise for technology and data related topics across Strategy & Innovation. The department consists of 3 other teams: Tech Enablement is responsible for our cloud platform and architecture. The AI team is responsible for all data related activities within Strategy & Innovation, the bank wide (gen)AI strategy, and the implementation of AI solutions. Finally, Innovation Engineering is responsible for developing our solutions.
The Innovation Centre is an open and lively space at the heart of ABN AMRO, where we connect with the world inside and outside the bank. At Strategy & Innovation, we bring committed and engaged intrapreneurs, tech experts, engineers, data scientists, designers, bankers, and innovation professionals together to work on the future of ABN AMRO. The working atmosphere is modern, international, and highly autonomous.
Your profile
The ideal candidate brings the following:
- Strong communication skills and able to adapt communication >
- Proven problem solving and decision making skills
- Proven ability to deliver pragmatic and working solutions in complex environments
- Proven ability to balance speed and iterative practices against 'perfect' architectures
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- Several years experience working as a solution architect, or similar experience
- Knowledgeable on IT infrastructure, IT development methods, and architecture design
- Excited and knowledgeable on relevant IT trends
Nice to have:
- Experience working with Archimate
- Experience with architecture of our FSCP 3.0 platform
- Experienced with the Azure platform
- Familiar with relevant IT topics such as containerisation, databases, various programming languages and/or development tools
